In brief, this is supposed to be a good kettle, I used the same model for 4 years but then electric connector in the base got loose and I've bought this replacement, same model. The problem is, it strongly smells plastic and even after a whole day of boiling water, rinsing and cleaning it just barely got better, but by all means not enough to call it enjoyable. I have to return the item in the end. If you are less picky about the water, you can buy it.

This is a great kettle that is very sleek and polished looking. I may be the only person I know who is not totally enamored with stainless steel so this is much more my style. It seems to boil quite quickly and I do like the location of the filter and its ease of use. The only somewhat odd thing is it boils for a long time before it cuts off but all in all very worth the money.
