This review is from: Calphalon Professional Hard-Anodized 2-Quart Whistle Kettle (Kitchen) We purchased this tea kettle based on a customer review of the "musical" qualities of the whistle and on the brand name. Our kettle is a shrill scream but it does not get LOUD. In fact, you have to position the whistle "just so" or it does not whistle at all! We prefer a whistle - we have a 3 story home and often put the kettle on but run off to do some errand. This kettle is not audible if you are not in the same room. We are very disappointed in the product but it is not worth the hassle of a return. 8 of 8 people found the following review helpful: By KWJ (Groves, TX United States) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Calphalon Professional Hard-Anodized 2-Quart Whistle Kettle (Kitchen) Purchased this item recently and have used it a few times. The kettle is very "professional" looking. The fit and finish is excellent with no complaints. A previous reviewer mentioned that the lid didn't seem to fit quite right. There's a rubber gasket on the lid to create a tight seal. My kettle, new out of the box, didn't seem to fit quite right but if you check and adjust the gasket (takes almost 2 seconds) it fits great. The whistle is loud enough to be heard - it called me last night when I got busy elsewhere. Looks great on the stove... 8 of 8 people found the following review helpful: By Mary K. The clean up is quick. Even splatterd on grease comes off with ease. It, like the other pots and pans that I had previously purchased also heats quickly, which I did expect. I did find at that at that time, the whistle was barely audible, and based on the previous recommendations, I expected as much. Since that time, I have found that the whistle really can and does send a very loud sound, and it appears that it was my own error that it didn't do so before. I had originally only filled the tea kettle only about half way, and almost silence. I found since that if you fill the kettle nearly full, and place it on a high flame, with the whistle holes facing the sides, you can over and over again, achieve a very loud and astounding whistle. Thanks Calphalon for another...Read more |
