We just got this kettle today. It is every bit as pretty as it looks. If that is worth over $100 to you, then go for it. It boils water. For us, that would not normally have been enough to justify the expense, but my aunt said to buy an indulgent gift for ourselves with the money she sent us for Christmas, and we did. Since we boil water a good 4 times a day, it seemed a good thing to have.

That said, you should know that there are other kettles that are not quite as pretty, but that cost a LOT, LOT less money and still boil water. And some of them do a lot more, too. For example, there's one from Sharper Image that can be set to different temps depending on whether you want black tea, green tea, coffee, oatmeal or whatever. That one looked super, and had a conceled element, but was not as pretty as this Cloer one.
