Kettle emits more of a droning horn than a whistle when the water is boiling. The quality is acceptable but this is not a future heirloom. Instructions warn against using over high heat on gas range. I would rank as 5 stars if I had paid under $20.

This kettle was purchased for me by my son-in-law for Christmas. It's delightfully heavy and really pretty. But it doesn't whistle. I've almost burned it on the stove twice because I've forgotten that it was on and got busy doing other things. Too bad.
