This review is from: Creative Home Saturn 2.8 Qt Stainless Steel Whistling Tea Kettle The good news is that this kettle has a large water capacity, and a rather loud whistle. The whistle is not particularly pleasant, but it's really not unpleasant either. It has a heavy stainless steel body, and it's appearance is fairly nice.
The bad news is that the black rubber parts on the handle and lid look really cheap, and the lid leaks just enough steam to make the lever you pull to pour the water very hot! Too hot to not use a potholder to open it. In the long run I think the rubber parts will deteriorate, which makes me wish sprung the cash for the Chantal. I like the utiliarian look of the kettle, but if these parts were a little better quality I'd give it another star. I mean it does boil water, which is the whole point, so I won't lose sleep over having to use a potholder. Once the rubber is destroyed, I will likely buy a different kettle. By Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Creative Home Saturn 2.8 Qt Stainless Steel Whistling Tea Kettle I bought this because it says it is stainless! What kind of stainless discolors because of water. I don't know if it is rust. It looks like mold but I know its not. I'm trying to use bar keepers friend on it to get it off but it's not working. It came with a little note that said dry it out after use to prevent discoloration. The whole point of buying stainless steel is that it wont stain. Had I known this I would have bought a pretty one that I would expect to stain. Sam's sold one several years ago that looked just like this. My whistle fell apart so I bought this thinking it was the same thing. It's not. This is cheap and now I will be throwing it in the garbage! This took 2 months of everyday use to look like garbage on the inside. 5 of 12 people found the following review helpful: By sweetsop (Plantation, Florida) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Creative Home Saturn 2.8 Qt Stainless Steel Whistling Tea Kettle Arrived way ahead of schedule. Kettle is heavy duty stainless steel with an aluminum capsulated bottom, rubber handle grip and rubber tip on spout release lever. It is very beautiful, but the cover has no gasket, unlike most high end kettles, so steam escapes around cover deminishing the amount that goes to spout. Therefore, the whistle is not very loud, which is basically what I want on a kettle - loud whistle. I almost burnt the house down because the whisle fell off my previous kettle and I couldn't find the screws to replace it. One day I was using it minus whistle and forgot it. It was the smoke detector that whistled for me, otherwise I would be dead by now. I watch tv with headphones, so you know I need a kettle with a loud whistle. I will keep the kettle anyway, because I think I might be able to hear it from the bedroom with my headphones on. If it's the smoke detector that alerts me again, I'm returning the kettle, providing we are still alive, (kettle and me) of course. |
