Product Description
2 QT, Everyday Stainless Steel, Teakettle, 18/10 Stainless Steel Construction, Whistle Indicates Boiling Temperature.
Amazon.com Review
This teakettle boils water for tea or coffee with panache. Its sleek, simple, contemporary design is enhanced by a polished stainless-steel finish, and its stainless-steel construction never imparts an aftertaste to the water. The kettle holds two quarts and has an easy-to-fill spout with a removable whistle for pouring. Before you boil your first kettle of water, wash it by hand and rinse it well with hot water. (Don't use steel wool, as abrasives will mar the beauty of the finish.) If the exterior becomes cloudy, use a gentle cleanser with a sponge to clean. One caution: the handle and knob on this kettle do heat up as water reaches the boiling point, so be sure to use a potholder to move it off the burner. --Irene Svete

1.0 out of 5 stars I'm Steamed!, September 25, 2002

I have really enjoyed the quality of all of my other Cuisinart cookware. Unfortunately, this tea kettle does not belong in the otherwise excellent product line. The kettle's shape makes it very difficult to pour. The handle conveys all of the heat of the boiling water, so you are not able to touch the handle without a hot pad. I have given up using the whistle attachment for two reasons: first, it is not made of Cuisinart's stainless steel (it appears to be made of plastic with a silver plastic coating), and so it has cracked and peeled from the heat; and second, it is impossible to remove the whistle when the kettle is hot so you are unable to pour your boiling water (often all that comes off when attempting to remove the whistle is the decorative ball on its tip!). I really wish that I had returned this tea kettle.

2.0 out of 5 stars Poor cover design, November 26, 2001

Cleaning is difficult and the cover is hard to remove, especially when the kettle is hot. Many times the cover has gotten stuck or the ball on the top has become loose and fallen off (with the screw falling into the boiling water).

1.0 out of 5 stars beautiful but not practical, February 29, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Cuisinart BA-165A Everyday Stainless 2-Quart Teakettle (Kitchen)
i completely agree w/ the other reviews. this is a terribly designed kettle in terms of usability. it's impossible to clean the inside of the kettle. while the handle looks nicely curved, there's no way to pick it up w/o a potholder when the kettle is hot.

the worst part is the whistle/cover. although i've developed a knack of taking it off (after almost getting burnt by the steam coming off the two little holes several times initially), the ball keeps falling off regardless of how many different glues i've tried on. w/o the ball, its asthetic value largely decreases. and yet w/ the chipped paint on a plastic ball, the kettle does not look all that asthetically pleasing anymore.

do NOT even consider this kettle for any reason. it serves absolutely no purpose unless you're decorating a model home where this kettle is for display only.
