Its 1 liter (approx 34 fl oz) Capacity is great for 4-5 tea cups at a time. Perfect for an after dinner tea setting, this steeper tea pot is made of medical grade GROSCHE Borosilicate glass that is heat resistant, lightweight, and strong. Perfect for use with a GROSCHE SAHARA Warmer (not included) to keep your tea warm for hours. With the GLASGOW, you can just add more water and allow your tea leaves to re-steep giving you many more great cups of tea to enjoy.
You can also use it without the steeper for flowering teas by removing the strainer. It is top rack dishwasher and microwave safe, and stovetop safe as well for gas/electric (not induction) stoves on low to medium heat. This high quality GROSCHE teapot is guaranteed against ever becoming cloudy even after many, many years of use.
Since it is safe for stovetop use you can boil water in the GLASGOW TeaKettle, and add your favorite loose tea, flowering teas, or tea bags to the teapot to prepare your teas jus the way you like them.
The 1 Litre (33.8 Fl oz.) size makes this a great size for having tea for 2 to 5 people. You can always add water to an emptying kettle to re-steep your teas.

Comment: I should of listened to the other reviewers as I just purchased the Glasgow and it arrived on the 9th July. Today is the 19th, less than 2 weeks of use and the lid cracked this afternoon while it was sitting on the stovetop. The kettle wasn't hot as it cooled since the tea was from breakfast. I went to pour the last cup out and noticed it. Grosche seems aware of their common defect in the glasgow because I phoned them and described what had happen and the man on the other end guessed that I had the Glasgow even though I hadn't mentioned which kettle of theirs I was trying to get a new lid for. They are all out of lids and will ship one to me in about 8 weeks! That's 2 months of waiting for a kettle I used less than 2 weeks.

Comment: Finally, a clean way to boil my water: other good features are:
1. Light weight.
2. You can instantly see what the water is doing,... boiling...near boiling, etc. May be you just want your water very hot but not boiling. You can see when it starts to form little bubbles....
3. Not that fragile for glass. You don't feel like it will shatter in your hands.

Summary: After a month the lid broke from doing nothing but rinsing it..... 2010-07-07
Comment: Pay heed to the one-star review. I was just rinsing the lid off with lukewarm water and it cracked and broke. The lid had sat and cooled to room temperature before I rinsed it. It was never dropped or mishandled in any way. Very strange. The spout also dribbled a bit if you poured a little too fast. Grosche offers a replacement lid and infuser set but Amazon doesn't offer it for sale!!!! Have to buy it directly from Canada. By the time you pay the shipping charges for an international package you could just buy a whole new pot. Kinda pointless. It really kinda sucks too because this is a great tea pot otherwise.

Comment: Feels fragile but works really well. I like that it is glass and will not leach anything into the water, pure taste. Only dislike is that it is made in China. Would prefer one made in the USA.

The round shape means the liquid keeps as warm as possible. The quality of the glass is wonderful and tea brewed in it tastes much better than any tea brewed in a metal basket, tea ball, or strainer. I have been using this teapot for a month, and use it everyday at work. It is a very nice classic teapot shape and 100% glass (heat resistant borosilicate).
Cleaning the glass strainer is very easy with my old toothbrush and again seems much better than any metal and probably plastic too. Holes in the strainer are nice, a perfect cut size.
It looks impressive. I like colors of varieties I drink of mostly black tea; Assam is best; also Ceylon and other types bought loose. I also like having a large strainer, and the ability to easily add water for a second brew. Green tea actually improves after the first brew, if you add more hot water.
The lid stays on without too much trouble, just hold with a finger like any teapot.
For the amount of tea you can brew in clear glass the price is the best I think, I researched and am glad I bought this one.
