It has a good shape that allows water to heat up quite quickly, for all that it holds almost 3 quarts. The design is chaming, with the small blue bird as the lid handle making a delightful finishing touch. For the very reasonable price it is a good bargain; I have had similar kettles that cost twice as much that were not as good. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful: By Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Johnson Brothers Willow Blue 2-3/4--Quart Enamel on Steel Whistling Tea Kettle (Kitchen) This is the second kettle that I've owned of this type. The first one was a wedding present and performed well (the whistle is genuinely lovely to listen to) until it bit the dust when I accidentally left it on the burner with hardly any water. The porcelain melted to to the burner and the plastic whistle melted off. I'm now on my second kettle -- I can't resist the nice compact design, illustration, and that beguiling whistle-- but beware of using gas burners! This time the plastic whistle has once again melted slightly (just on the bottom) due to the flames reaching up too high. It still works, however. This kettle would be vastly improved if the plastic parts (the whistle cover, bird, and handle) were made of something a bit more durable. It doesn't always whistle but, otherwise, it has held up fine. |
