Product Review

With 1100 watts of power, this electric kettle boils up to 55 ounces of water quickly and easily, producing hot water for tea, hot chocolate, and instant soup in half the time of a microwave oven. Its cordless design allows for lifting the kettle off its base for enhanced mobility or serving guests at the table. The unit's durable nickel-plated heating element resists staining, while its removable, washable, mesh water filter reduces lime scale in beverages. The hot-water kettle also features a hinged lid for convenient cleaning and filling, and a water-level window for an accurate water fill. A power indicator light and an automatic shut-off switch with boil-dry protection ensure added safety. Other highlights include a generous handle, a drip-free spout for graceful pouring, and cord storage to help keep countertops tidy. The cordless jug kettle measures 8-2/3 by 6-2/3 by 9-2/5 inches and carries a one-year warranty.

This little pot boils a large amount (2 litres) of water in just a couple of minutes. The cordless base makes it so much safer and easier to pour when it's ready, the twist open lid helps you to avoid dumping the whole pot on yourself and I like the auto shut off so there is no chance of boiling it dry or starting a fire. The only small criticism I have is that the twist open lid seems a bit cheezy - like it might not last as long as the rest of the pot does. I will update my review if that turns out to be the case. Also, you should be aware that the heating element is exposed in the bottom of the pot so don't get this one if you expect to boil anything other than water as you will coat the element with it. Otherwise this pot is exactly what I wanted/expected.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect performance!, October 20, 2008

This was exactly what I was looking for. I'm not too fond of "no-name" appliances, but was willing to give it a go since the other reviews were much better than comparable name brand products which were significantly higher priced.

Works perfectly as described.

The large lid, though a little cheesy as others have said, makes filling very easy. Yeah, the element is exposed, so we'll all use our brains and not stick our hands in the pot (duh). This pot specifically says the coil is nickel, and not aluminum. I don't like to mess with aluminum cooking utensils, and am pleased.

The water-level window on the side is LARGE and easy to see. You can even watch the water boil.

The measure marks leave somewhat to be desired. They mark ".5 quarts, 1 quart, 1.5 quarts, 2 quarts." I would have preferred it mark off 2, 4, 6, and 8 cups instead. The marks are oval, so they don't really show exactly where "1.5 quarts" is. Also the max. and min. marks...Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Good for the price, August 27, 2008

I've had this pot about 6 months and have been pleased with its performance so far. I'm ashamed to admit I probably only use it twice a week, but it's very convenient when I need it. It heats water very fast and stays quiet, and can really speed up boiling water for pasta or other dishes to be later cooked on the stove. The lid seems somewhat cheap, but for the price I can't really complain -- most lesser-capacity 1 3/4 quart pots are more than twice the price! Note that the item description is WRONG: this pot holds 2 liters or about 68 fluid ounces, not 55 as stated.
