The price is right for this product, but it isn't particularly attractive on the kitchen countertop. Plus if you open the lid accidentally while pouring out hot water the filter screen falls out. I have also burned the back of my hand (actually the knuckles) a couple of times on the hot plastic molding of the unit while pouring out water. I managed to not drop the unit when this happened, but I would advice NOT buying this unit. I think it is dangerous.

We've had this unit for about two years now, and it works fine for heating water to boiling, and it's fairly quiet as well, but there are some items that could be improved.

As another review stated, don't open the lib while you are pouring -- the screen filter falls out and down into whatever cup or pot you're pouring into. I tend to do this without thinking when dumping out unneeded hot water later. Also make sure to keep the lid closed as it heats. I once left the top standing open with a thermometer in it because I wanted water at only 180F, and the auto-shutoff apparently works via steam pushing down into a hole near the handle which triggers it to turn off. With the top open, this never happens, and the water keeps boiling madly, I guess until it's all splashed out and boiled away eventually.

But keeping the lid down is easy enough. My biggest gripe is that the base is too light, and the electrical contacts between the pot and base "grab" a bit, so when...Read more
