Two kettles - inaudible whistle - should be recalled,

Received this kettle as a gift. Whistle was nearly inaudible even when the kettle furiously boiled for over 10 mins. Returned it to the mfg for a replacement. Second kettle had the same problem. Lid is on tight, spout cover (where whistle sits) was clearly down - if you have some sort of background noise (e.g. a/c is on) and are in another room in the house you likely won't be able to hear the kettle. I have fine hearing and have owned several functioning whistle kettles before. I've never written a review, but was compelled in my shock that this product is still being sold. It is dangerous and should be pulled from the market. Design looks good, handle is comfortable, but the whistle is so bad the product should be recalled. Have owned other KitchenAid products that worked, but do not buy this! KitchenAid - please recall!

It gets even worse.... the flip up lid melted half off and caught on fire. It started to whistle while I was standing right next to it. I immediately turned to shut off the burner and noted a fire on top of my stove! I REALLY urge no one to buy this and for the company to recall it immediately.

Doesn't Whistle,

I've had this kettle for about 1 month. Initially the harmonic "whistle" worked. Took a little time getting used to as it isn't as urgent sounding as your standard whistling kettle. Anyway... it stopped whistling & steam just escapes from the spout. The spout cap has melted around the edges so I imagine that is part of the problem. The handle gets quite hot so I need to let is sit for a minute or two (or use a potholder) to pick up. Anyway... without a whistle, it's useless. I'm sending it back!!
