From the Le Creuset Accessories line comes this whistling kettle made of enamel-coated carbon steel, suitable for use on virtually all cooking surfaces (gas, electric, radiant ceramic). The heavyweight metal conducts heat evenly across the bottom and up the sides of the kettle, quickly heating water for a pot of tea. The tight-fitting lid and locking handle let you pour without the risk of scalding your knuckles with hot steam. And this kettle, like all other Le Creuset products, is a bright and colorful addition to your kitchen. --Schuyler Ingle

What a disappointment..., August 2, 2000

I bought this kettle because I've used and loved Le Creuset's cookware for years, but they really fell short with this item; it's terribly designed. The main problem is that the whistling mechanism is a totally separate piece from the rest of the kettle, and must be fully removed from the spout before you can pour. This a safety hazard, because it fits in the spout so tightly, you really have to yank hard to pull it out, and with the kettle full of boiling water, you're likely to scald yourself in the process. And if you use it without the whistler (thus eliminating one of the selling points of this item), the water consistently overflows from the spout when it reaches a boil, even if you only fill the kettle halfway. Also, the handle is not very well insulated, so it's a bit too hot to pick up barehanded, which is really more an inconvenient than a safety concern. My husband and I were each burned more than once in the 3 weeks that we had this kettle, before we finally...Read more

I like this kettle..., November 10, 2000

I have had this kettle for 3 years and have had no problems. I love the style, color and size. You do need to be careful when removing the whistle, I let it sit for a moment and remove it w/ a potholder or towel. I like that the whistle does come out for better pouring.
