My fiancee rescued this from being thrown away--she cleaned it and it was still covered in marks, stains, crusty stuff... then I went at it for a long time with elbow grease and an array of tools including steel wool and scraping it with a metal butter knife. Amazingly, I was able to remove just about all the marks! There were a few places on the outside where the enamel had chipped off (probably due to dropping on stove) and exposed metal underneath--but no rust is forming there to-date, so I give it an A++ on durability.
The whistler was no longer on ours--this seems to be a common problem. However, we were able to buy a replacement Bird Shaped Whistle that works great.
I did note that though the inside is coated in an enamel that also seems durable and good, there are two places where it is showing a tiny amount...Read more
