You have to mix a solution of baking soda and water in a deep pot, bring it to a boil and submerge the kettle Let it boil in this solution for 5-10 minutes. Carefully remove the kettle. Then you can "scrub" the coating off with a plastic sponge and warm soapy water. It takes a while. Then you polish it with copper polish. This review is from: Old Dutch 1 3/4 Quart Decor Copper Whistling Teakettle With Delft Handle (Kitchen) This "copper" kettle is an absolute peice of chinese made junk. The kettle itself is made from the cheapest sheet metal and screws. Mine already had rust on the inside when it arrived. If you plan to use this you need to boil it and remove the plastic coating. Upon doing so the microscopic layer of coper disolved leaving me with and extremely cheap metal kettle. I cannot believe this is even advertise as a copper kettle. This is not a copper kettle by any stretch of the imagination, save you money. 6 of 6 people found the following review helpful: By Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Old Dutch 1 3/4 Quart Decor Copper Whistling Teakettle With Delft Handle (Kitchen) Bought this kettle as a gift for my mom. She LOVES it and it has enough volume to do the job. Many kettles of this style are small and more decorative. The Delft features were a big hit with my mom......she loves that look and it is hard to find. |
