The on and off switch is badly designed. It doesn't stay on. you have to hold the switch down to boil water.I returned mine

I have two of these. The first one is perfect so I ordered a second. Like many other reviews the on/off switch on the second unit does not stay on; and this is the solution: use black electrical tape (so the color will blend in) and tape two quarters to the switch. The quarters are heavy enough to keep the switch down and lite enough for the switch to turn off when the water boils.

I purchased this product for my girlfriend for Christmas. I wasn't sure what to expect since this kettle was less expensive than some alternatives and didn't have any reviews at the time I purchased it. This is a rare instance where a product has exceeded my expectations (so far). My girlfriend has had it for about 2 weeks and loves it. The finish is eye-catching but not overdone. I can't comment on the durability of the finish at this point. The design is well thought-out - I've seen some electric kettles that didn't make much sense from an ergonomic standpoint. It sits on a base that plugs into the wall - but the kettle is portable and easily removed from the base. It brings water to a boil in about 1-3 minutes, depending on the volume in the kettle. When the on-switch is thrown, a fairly intense blue indicator light shows that it's heating - I like this feature. My girlfriend is very pleased... and therefore, I am very pleased.
