Americans are just beginning to catch on to what Europeans have known for ages: Electric kettles boil water faster than stove-top kettles. This compact tea kettle holds a quart of water and boils it even faster than a microwave, with the added advantage of a built-in whistle to let you know when the water is ready. The more water in the kettle, the louder the whistle. A stainless-steel lid on the no-drip spout flips up for easy filling and pouring, and keeps steam away from hands. Two additional safety features: a maximum fill line on the spout prevents boil-overs, and a thermostat automatically turns off the heating element in case the kettle boils dry or gets plugged in while empty. The exterior of the kettle is stay-cool plastic, and the interior base is anodized to resist mineral build-up. Compact and lightweight with a 2-foot cord, the kettle measures 7 by 6-1/2 inches and comes with a one-year warranty against defects. --Ann Bieri

Comment: This is a great little kettle!! Reasonably priced and lightweight and a REAL kettle. I was unable to fing anything like this locally, so thank you Amazon. The only stuff they had locally looked like coffee percolators from the 80"s!!!

Summary: Shocking Plug Problem! 2010-03-10
Comment: I have owned this tea kettle for two years, and have noticed that the cord gets hot. Today I unplugged it and not only was there a spark and crack, but an electrical jolt went through my hand and up into my arm. I had been very careful to just touch the plastic part - know that I did not touch the metal prong - and did not have my other hand on metal or anything. More than and hour later my hand and arm are still in pain from the electrical shock. I plan to throw this kettle out. I do not recommend it.

Comment: I've had my teapot now for at least five years and I use it alot. I've boiled it dry several times and discovered it plugged in many hours later on returning home, but it keeps on going. A great little product! The only drawback is that I prefer a pot with a removable lid.

Comment: I love my little whistling tea kettle. I take it to work and use it in my office. My office is tiny and the tea kettle takes up very little space. The whistle is a big PLUS. I would buy another one in a heartbeat. The price can't be beat.
