I had the 2-quart Revere saucepan and perforated type insert that I have used as a steamer for many years with no problems. When I wanted to make the old-fashioned type 30-minute oatmeal with a minimum of stirring I ordered the solid insert to turn it into a double boiler. It fit perfectly and does what it's supposed to do. Beautiful stainless steel finish too and the oatmeal comes out great.

I decided to buy this double boiler insert despite my unhappiness with the set of Revere cookware that I bought several years earlier. That cookware was of very poor quality overall. It was flimsy and badly constructed. This double boiler insert was clearly manufactured in a different factory (or country). It is sturdy and very well engineered. This is the quality Revere cookware that I remember from forty years ago.

I can't believe a lid wasn't included with this pot,

I guess the joke was on me. I assumed that a lid would be included, but I guess that cost extra, or has to be purchased separately. I returned the item, because I didn't own any lids that fit this particular pot. And I wasn't about to go treasure hunting in my city to obtain one. Next time I'll be sure a lid is included before I buy.
