Something that would give an good honest, audible whistle when boiling, then allow one to pour the steaming hot water without having to put a hand anywhere near the spout.
That didn't seem like much to ask, but we had a heck of a time finding such a thing. We found some that were close, but which you can fill only through the spout. It seems to me that one should have a lid on a pot like this, to be able to get inside and clean it, inspect for damage or wear, or whatever. And suddenly, we came across this one. On Amazon there was a 4-cup version, and two 8-cup versions. There is one with a copper bottom to resemble the traditional Revereware look, but after looking at the pictures, we bought the one that is pure stainless steel top to bottom. This kettle blows steam out the edges of that big opening right onto the handle. Picking it up is risky business. It leaks water.
