Product Review

No more waiting for the water to boil on the stovetop. The Saeco 50-Ounce electric water kettle will quickly heat the water to your desired temperature with three preset warming temperatures from 100F to 200F. The easy to read display panel built directly into the handle makes setting the temperature easy. The kettle also comes with two heating options. Bring water to a rolling boil using conventional heating or use the keep warm mode to heat up and hold water at a specific temperature for up to 2 hours. The 360-degree rotational power base with internal cord storage is perfect for the right or left handed user. What makes this kettle even more appealing is the large 50-Ounce carafe that is made of sturdy plastic and stainless steel. The carafe has multi-colored backlight to indicate the temperature range from low, medium and high. For added safety there is a triple protection switch that will shut off the unit.

We have had electric water kettles for over 15 years. When the top on our latest one got worn, we bought the Saeco 1167. It's the best electric water kettle we've ever had. Most important: it shows the temperature of the water as it heats up so you can choose what degree of heat you want, which is essential if you drink a lot of tea and wonderful when you need warm water for baking. It even holds that temp if you like. It can be set to heat low, med or high; or, it can go straight to boil. The kettle pours well, too, unlike other kettles.

You can actually see the level of water from the outside, which eliminates peering into the kettle. And, although it seems like a fancy extra, the way the kettle's clear area changes color as the water heats is handy. You can tell at a quick glance, from across the room or when you're doing something else, how the water's coming along. This is very handy when you have company, or are busy with other chores.

We like this kettle...Read more

This is the best kitchen gadget ever (well, maybe my new fridge is as cool as that, but it costs 20 times more, so it does not count).

My god, this thing is awesome!
It actually changes the color as it heats! Yes, I know that product description says that, but reading about it is one thing; actually seeing is another. This is just sick.

It has a built-in digital thermometer!
Now when I am desperately waiting for the kettle to heat up, not only I can see the whole thing lit up and change the color like a Christmas tree, I can also watch the thermometer counting the degrees.

The best kettle a geek can have.

Oh BTW, the tea tastes fine, it heats up pretty fast, etc, etc.

PS: Too bad it does not have a wi-fi module with SNMP on it; but next model surely will.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great, November 21, 2009

This kettle has been great. I got it for a bit less than advertised here, but what a deal. I had no problems with a "plastic" taste. I followed the instructions of boiling up two kettles of water and dumping them out before personal use. I used it for making tea at a high tea and several people asked where I got it. I use this kettle almost every day. I have only had it a few weeks and, so far, I am very pleased.
